Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving !!!

It's always a good thing to take time to pause and give thanks for what we have. It's not things that money can buy. It's the things that we are given freely in life that we need to recognize as precious gifts and give thanks for. I am thankful for: my family, the children that I have raised or are raising, my health, my friends, my pets, my faith, my job as a teacher, a place to live, food to eat, the seasons, walks with my dog, forgiveness and for the ability to forgive, for my transportation, for my safety, for the people in my life that I have shared so many precious moments with but are no longer living, and for the precious moments yet to come.

Motivating Students To Do Their Work

Report cards go home tomorrow. I am drafting a letter to Globaloria parents to send home with each Globaloria student's report card. I want to explain what Globaloria is and what a great program it is for their children. I also want to explain that students must focus on their work and utilize their time to the full extent in both homebase and in class. I also want to emphasize that if their child does not complete their work in class, it should be completed as homework.
The majority of the Globaloria students are not working up to their potential. I want to let the parents know what the situation is and hopefully, get them to encourage their children to live up to their potential.

Pumpkin Drop

I'm took my Project Lead the Way students, which is my pre-engineering class, to the 13th annual Pumpkin Drop at Appalachian Power Park on October 20th to compete in the contest. There were 16 students that went. We had four entries and one of our pumpkins successfully made it threw the drop. We won 1st place in the middle school contest. We received a trophy and $100 to use in our classroom. The students were so excited, since it was our first time to compete and since there were several middle schools that we competed against.

Learning Log and Blogging

Just a reminder to all students in my class. You are to write a daily learning log entry of what you accomplished for the day, and you are to write two blogs per week. Check the course schedule to see what you should be blogging about. If you have read your course schedule regarding blogging, you must title each blog, write a rich blog and use different colors fonts, different font types, and include images, include videos, and links in your blogs. If you've forgotten how to add graphics, videos, images, etc. to your blog. Check out this link on blogging.
